FreeSync: Get iPod Content Over To The Mac
Like many other people who have iPod, I use iTunes to sync content to it. That works perfectly until my Mac crashed on me and my whole iTunes library was gone! There was no way I could copy my iPod’s music and movies back into iTunes. I know that some third-party application can do this, and upon searching, I tried “FreeSync”, an app developed by iSkysoft Studio.
The program automatically detects my iPod and displays some info of it when you connect iPod to Mac, including capacity, available space, music and movies. It also supports iPhone, which is a nice addition! It a pity that it doesn’t currently support new iPhone 3GS or the new 3.0 firmware.
The Interface
The main interface of the app is simple and clear, meaning that you don’t need to read through a manual, but you can use it like an old hand. To be honest, the interface is not especially stylish. It is weird that they have other icons but that you are not be able to use it. But it’s OK, we don’t want to look for a gift horse in the mouth.
Transferring
At first, I just tried to transfer about 25 songs, and it was done in a flash, really fast! Selecte the songs you wanted to transfer, and then click the “iPod to Mac” icon and it startes transferring. A progress bar will show up during the archiving process. When the transferring is done, a dialogue box will note how many songs were transferred successfully and how many failed. So far, it has never failed to transfer my movies but did fail to transfer one song.
Conclusion
This program is very easy to use and it does meets my needs, transferring my iPod music and movies to Mac conveniently. If the app would have had a search feature, it would have been better as you sometimes want to get access to some particular songs before transferring. All in all though, I really like the application.
